At the Paris Olympics this summer, winning athletes will receive their medals on elegant Louis Vuitton trays, adorned with the French luxury house’s signature motifs.
Louis Vuitton Olympic Trays: Craftsmanship and Design
These trays, crafted by skilled artisans at the Beaulieu-sur-Layon workshop in Maine-et-Loire, feature the iconic Damier canvas exterior, first created in 1888. Inside, the trays are lined with matte black leather, reminiscent of the Louis Vuitton “Torches and Medals” trunks. Each tray can hold between two and six medals, which have been designed by the renowned jeweler Chaumet.
Antoine Arnault LVMH: Insights on Luxury Medal Presentation
Antoine Arnault, LVMH’s head of communication, image, and environment, shared insights at the Bulgari Hotel on Tuesday. “We wanted to contribute not just as a creative partner of the Opening Ceremony but to be present throughout the event, including the sporting part. We found this way to be present that is very discreet and at the same time, paradoxically, very visible,” Arnault explained, according to WWD. “I think the trays are beautiful and very Vuitton.”
Olympic Medal Bearers Uniform: A Nod to Paris 1924
In addition to the trays, Louis Vuitton has also designed a unisex uniform for the medal bearers, featuring a polo shirt, loose pants, and a gavroche cap, inspired by the 1924 Paris Olympics. “We have designed an elegant, sober, comfortable outfit so that the medal bearers can do their job in the best conditions with hundreds of millions of pairs of eyes around the world focused on them,” Arnault added.
Stay tuned to Wally as these luxurious elements make their debut, adding a touch of timeless elegance to the Paris Olympics.
