Country music icon Alan Jackson has announced his final tour, “Last Call: One More for the Road,” promising fans an emotional performance despite battling a chronic neurological condition. Jackson, a Grammy award winner, revealed in 2021 that he has been living with Charcot-Marie-Tooth disease (CMT) for over a decade. “There’s no cure for it, but it’s been affecting me for years. And it’s getting more and more obvious,” Jackson shared in a 2021 interview with Today.
CMT, a condition causing nerve damage primarily in the legs, feet, hands, and arms, leads to muscle weakness and sometimes loss of sensation, according to the Mayo Clinic. The disease progresses slowly, and in the later stages, most individuals with CMT can still walk with the aid of braces or canes.
Despite these challenges, Jackson is determined to give his fans a memorable farewell. “Fans know when they come to my shows, they’re going to hear the songs that made me who I am – the ones they love,” he stated.
In a gesture of support, Jackson will donate $1 from every ticket sold to the CMT Research Foundation, a non-profit dedicated to finding treatments and a cure for CMT. The tour kicks off this summer, visiting cities across the United States. Don’t miss the chance to see this country legend one last time!
