AMC Confirms ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Season 3 Before Season 2 Finale

AMC Confirms ‘Interview with the Vampire’ Season 3 Before Season 2 Finale

AMC has officially renewed Anne Rice’s “Interview with the Vampire” for a third season, just ahead of the Season 2 finale airing this Sunday. The series, which has garnered a dedicated fan base, will continue to delve into the dark, complex world of vampires.

According to Deadline, the upcoming third season will draw inspiration from Rice’s 1985 novel “The Vampire Lestat”. The storyline will see Lestat (Sam Reid) forming a band and going on tour, featuring characters like Gabrielle, Nicholas, Magnus, Marius, and Those Who Must Be Kept, along with returning characters Louis (Jacob Anderson), Armand (Assad Zaman), and journalist Daniel Molloy (Eric Bogosian). The official logline hints, “No Auto-Tuning. No Trigger Warnings. All Feels Amplified.”

Season 2 shifted from New Orleans to Paris, following Louis and the teen vampire Claudia (Delainey Hayles) as they plot to kill Lestat. Their European journey brings them to the Theatre des Vampires in Paris, where Louis’ relationship with Armand develops, leading to tragic consequences that affect both their past and future.

The series has been critically acclaimed, maintaining a 98% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes for both seasons. In 2022, it was named the best-reviewed horror series of the year by Rotten Tomatoes and featured on several “Best of 2022” TV show lists. Dan McDermott, president of entertainment and AMC Studios for AMC Networks, commended the creative team, stating, “What Rolin [Jones] has done with these stories and characters, working so closely with Mark [Johnson], as the steward of this universe, has exceeded the loftiest version of our expectations”.

Based on Rice’s 1976 novel, “Interview with the Vampire” is the first series in the Immortal Universe, a shared universe inspired by Rice’s works. The show follows Louis de Pointe du Lac recounting his past life and relationship with the vampire Lestat de Lioncourt to journalist Daniel Molloy.
