In a candid episode of HBO’s ‘The Shop,’ Andre discussed his transition from a rap phenom to exploring the realms of jazz with his new album, ‘New Blue Sun.’ Despite his legendary status in hip-hop, Andre admitted that he is a novice with the flute, embracing the freedom of not mastering the instrument yet.
“I don’t know what notes I’m playing, to be completely honest,” he shared, emphasizing his journey of musical discovery over technical expertise.
Andre also addressed his earlier comments about moving away from rap as he aged, clarifying that while he supports artists who continue, his own passion for traditional rapping has diminished. He remains open to returning to rap if the right inspiration strikes but is currently focused on expressing himself in new and innovative ways through jazz.
