It appears that Angel Reese, the recently drafted WNBA star for the Chicago Sky, is set to launch her own line of signature sneakers with Reebok. In a bold move, the former LSU standout athlete shared on social media her decision to partner with Reebok over Nike.
Despite reportedly receiving a lucrative endorsement offer from Nike, Reese opted for Reebok for several reasons. She explained that Reebok lacked a prominent female basketball player as the face of their brand, which presented an opportunity for her to fill that role. Addressing criticisms, Reese stated, “So many different shoe companies wanted to work with me. But I chose Reebok. What was it about Reebok? One, they don’t have a women’s basketball player [as] a face. So I wanted to be that.” She also cited her relationship with Shaquille O’Neal, who has ties to Reebok, as another factor influencing her decision. Additionally, Reese appreciated Reebok’s approach to rebranding and giving her creative control over her line, including her own shoe designs and merchandise featuring her name.
With this partnership, Reese has the opportunity to showcase her unique style and appeal to a younger demographic through her social media presence. Reebok’s collaboration with Reese represents a shift in strategy, allowing her to infuse her personal brand and creativity into the brand’s offerings.
