Singer-songwriter Beabadoobee, also known as Beatrice Laus, is eagerly preparing to launch her much-awaited third album, ‘This is How Tomorrow Moves,’ a collaboration with producer Rick Rubin. In an interview with The Guardian, Laus reassured fans that despite Rubin’s unconventional methods—stripping her songs to acoustic versions—her distinctive sound remains intact.
She explained that Rubin’s approach offered unexpected clarity, allowing her to view the record in a new light. This process enhanced her confidence as a musician and helped her recognize the strength of her songs when performed with just her voice and an acoustic guitar.
Rubin, renowned for his minimalist production style with artists like Johnny Cash and Adele, encouraged Laus to revisit her demos and master them acoustically, a challenge she enthusiastically embraced.
Despite the collaboration, Laus is adamant that her album will authentically reflect her personality. She humorously quips, “I’m not gonna hide myself just because I made an album with Rick Rubin, and I’m just like, super super serious. I’m still the same crazy girl!”
The album’s first single, ‘Take A Bite,’ accompanied by a music video, is already available on YouTube. It offers a taste of what’s to come from ‘This Is How Tomorrow Moves.’
