Beyoncé recently revealed her inspiration for transitioning into country music, crediting the success of Shaboozey and various female country singers. In March, she released her debut country album, ‘Cowboy Carter,’ featuring standout tracks like “Sweet Honey Buckin” and “Spaghettii,” the latter a collaboration with Shaboozey.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Beyoncé shared her motivations behind the genre shift. “When you are breaking down barriers, not everyone is ready and open for a shift,” she said. “But seeing Shaboozey dominating the charts and the rise of talented female country singers inspiring the world is what motivates me.”
Shaboozey expressed gratitude for the attention brought by Beyoncé’s album, which has amassed over a billion streams on Spotify. “It’s been incredible to have her spotlight me. Her influence significantly boosted my roll-out,” he noted. “She amplified my presence in the country music space, and it’s amazing to receive such support from an influential figure.”
He also commented on the broader impact of Beyoncé’s project. “It’s exciting to see how far country music has reached since her project. The genre is now resonating worldwide.”
‘Cowboy Carter’ marked a historic milestone for Beyoncé, making her the first Black woman to top the Billboard Country Albums chart. The album also highlights emerging artists such as Tiera Kennedy, Willie Jones, Brittney Spencer, Reyna Roberts, and Tanner Adell, further showcasing the diversity and evolving landscape of country music.
