Beyoncé’s “Cowboy Carter” Spotlights Linda Martell Knows as A Country Music Trailblazer

Beyoncé’s latest album “Cowboy Carter” features Linda Martell, a pioneering figure in country music history. Martell was the first solo Black woman to perform on the Grand Ole Opry stage. She appears on two tracks on Beyoncé’s album, “The Linda Martell Show” and “Spaghetti,” the latter featuring country musician Shaboozey.

Martell’s journey shows the challenges she met as a Black woman in an industry mostly run by white people. Yet, her music still touches many people today. Beyoncé paid homage to Martell in her song “Cowboy Carter,” celebrating her lasting impact on country music and sharing her inspiring story with new fans.
