This October, the Kingston Design Connection will unveil its sixth-annual Kingston Design Showhouse in a historic colonial tavern in New York’s Hudson Valley. This year marks the organization’s oldest home yet and the first showhouse held in Stone Ridge, N.Y., rather than Kingston. The last showhouse was held in 2022.
Transforming a Historic Colonial Tavern
The historic home, built in the early 1700s, features 14 rooms and outdoor spaces. Designers are invited to apply for the chance to transform this unique space. The deadline for applications is July 31. The tavern boasts original six-over-six windows, molding, heart pine floors, and a storied past, including its use by colonists for meetings after the British burned Kingston in 1777. The home includes multiple parlors, a tavern room in the basement, and numerous bedrooms.
Kingston Design Showhouse and Ulster Habitat for Humanity Partnership
The showhouse will partner with Ulster Habitat for Humanity for the third consecutive year, supporting the organization’s mission to build three affordable homes annually.
Focused on local economic development, the showhouse features at least 80% regional participants and works with property owners to gift permanently installed items like kitchens, bathrooms, and gardens, enhancing neighborhood value. It also offers junior designers a platform to showcase their talent, promoting diversity in the industry.
Kingston Design Showhouse Public Opening
The Kingston Design Showhouse will be open to the public from October 11-27. Don’t miss this opportunity to witness and participate in the transformation of a historic gem!
