‘This is probably our last gig
Damon Albarn announced that Blur may perform for the last time at Coachella 2024’s weekend 2. Albarn made this announcement before their final song, “Tender,” and clarified that the decision had nothing to do with the festival, which he praised.
This was Blur’s first major performance in the US in almost ten years, and the band reunited for the occasion. Although the audience initially gave them a warm reception, they were much more enthusiastic at their final show. Albarn expressed to Les Inrockuptibles last December that while the reunion was fulfilling, it was also challenging.
He stated that he wanted to concentrate on his projects with Gorillaz, while also appreciating the chance to revisit Blur’s hits. Albarn’s statements indicate that Blur’s stage performances may come to an end, as he wants to focus on evolving artistically and continuing his musical innovation with Gorillaz.
His remarks at Coachella 2024 highlight a poignant moment in Blur’s history, which will resonate with fans and music enthusiasts.
