Montreal-based skate shop Dime is adding a fresh twist to the iconic Adidas Stan Smith. At first glance, the Dime x Adidas Stan Smith resembles the classic white and green colorway, but closer inspection reveals Dime’s unique touch. The shoe features a debossed wavy grid pattern on its white leather upper, with the green heel tab crafted in patent leather and mismatched gold branding—trefoil on the left shoe and Dime’s name on the right.
Dime’s Quirky Update to the Adidas Stan Smith
A quirky update includes replacing Stan Smith’s face on the tongue logo with the botched restoration of the “Ecce Homo” fresco that went viral in 2012. Dime has previously used this motif in their apparel and Reebok collaborations, and now it graces the Stan Smith. The partnership between Dime and Adidas began in 2023 with a Superstar ADV capsule and has since produced the Busenitz Vulc 2 and ADI2000 skate shoes.
Dime x Adidas Stan Smith Release Details
The release of the Dime x Adidas Stan Smith is set for July 1, exclusively at BSTN for $120. The timing coincides with the documentary “Who Is Stan Smith?” which explores the tennis star’s life beyond his namesake sneakers. Originally released in 1965 and named after French player Robbert Haillet, the shoe was renamed for Stan Smith in 1978. Smith wore the shoe for years before it officially bore his name, and for a time, the tongue featured both his portrait and Haillet’s name.
