Masayuki Ino’s Doublet brand has consistently thrilled the fashion world with its playful and cheerful approach to design. For Spring/Summer 2025, Doublet closed Paris Fashion Week with a vibrant anime-inspired fashion festival that was equal parts fun and fashion forward.
The traditional runway setup was replaced with a unique and immersive experience. Guests were seated on the grounds of lycée polyvalent de Turgot, surrounded by rolled banners featuring vibrant illustrations and Japanese characters. The atmosphere was electric, with booming beats and a hot Takoyaki stand adding to the festive vibe.
The 39-look co-ed collection was a masterclass in tongue-in-cheek design. Militaristic wool coats with metallic pompoms gave way to embroidered cheerleaders on V-neck pullovers, paired with distressed denim and football jerseys with experimental logos. The collection was a playful mishmash of styles, with branded tags and crawling spiders adding a touch of whimsy.
As the show progressed, the designs took a darker turn, with utilitarian gilets and heroic capes adding a sense of drama. Motorcycle jackets and layered cycling uniforms hinted at a sense of adventure, while Doublet-branded towels were reimagined as wearable pieces. The collection ended on a high note, with “I Heart Protein” tees featuring uncooked beef and a playful take on the classic “I Heart NY” design.
Throughout the show, custom-made judging paddles allowed attendees to show their love for the designs, adding to the sense of community and joy that permeated the event. Doublet’s SS25 collection was a triumph of playful design, proving that fashion can be both fun and forward-thinking.
