Get ready to dive back into the world of emotions! Just one week after the release of Inside Out 2, Pixar’s chief creative officer Pete Docter has announced a spin-off series coming to Disney+ in early 2025.
The first Inside Out movie introduced us to Riley and her five core emotions: Joy, Sadness, Fear, Anger, and Disgust. Together, they navigate Riley’s memories and emotions, with Joy trying to keep her happy (but it’s not always that easy!). In Inside Out 2, Riley is joined by new emotions Anxiety, Ennui, Envy, Embarrassment, and Nostalgia, making things a bit more complicated (and interesting!).
The new series will delve deeper into the characters we love, with a focus on dreams and their impact on our waking lives. While we don’t have a title or exact release date yet, we know it’s coming in spring 2025 (autumn for our Southern Hemisphere friends). According to Docter, the series was inspired by the universal experience of anxiety and the desire to create a storyline that resonates with audiences. With production wrapped and more information on the way, we can’t wait to see what’s next for Riley and her emotions!
