JOOPITER, the auction house of Pharrell, has recently revealed its upcoming sale which will be done in collaboration with the K-Pop star G-Dragon. The said event which is dubbed as “Nothing But A ‘G’ Thang: The Art & Archive of G-Dragon,” will be a tribute to the South Korean artist and legend. He is seen as a symbol of change in the cultural and fashion scenes as he will be big-time creating channels for everyone else. Completions
Not open to the public, are his installations as they are a one-time thing and the man’s heart. Of course, he perceived the items differently than those around them when choosing the pieces. That’s how G-Dragon became a sort of lens regrad his work to the fashion industry. In addition to the art show, he himself will present some of his own stuff that has been already customized specifically for the event. Besides a custom pair of Off-White x Air Jordan 1s, some of those items include a Chanel belt, and the likes.
Pharrell Praises G-Dragon’s Creativity and JOOPITER Collaboration
The producer Pharrell expressed his love for the star in a quoted statement, “G-Dragon is the person I am proud to be associated with in the list of people I count as friends. He is the one with unlimited inspirations to bank on in each music, fashion, art, and design creation he brings out. We are thrilled that he has left us, JOOPITER with his records, and we are even more overjoyed to be able to share this joy with the whole world.” In a response, G-Dragon himself recalled his journey: “As an artist, I have a strong desire to always try new things and collaborate with the most talented people that inspired me to select design and art as the two main reasons for my beginning to collect.
Pharrell and I have developed a deeper relationship over time as we are both very passionate about looking for new ways to be inspired. I am in an active role in my personal life by revisiting the past as a means to make future strides. It is JOOPITER that leads me to present my story and show the pieces which have been my motivation to discuss my development visibly.”
The sale is going to be held in Seoul at the same time as Frieze Seoul, with Pharrell and G-Dragon doing the sale during the Paradise Art Night on September 2 in Seoul. The exhibitions will be available for viewing from September 5 to 7 at the Daelim Museum in Seoul, and the online auctioning will start on September 2 and last till the 10th at JOOPITER.
