Johnny Wactor, renowned for his portrayal of Brando Corbin on “General Hospital,” tragically lost his life in the early hours of May 25 in Downtown Los Angeles. The 37-year-old actor heroically shielded his co-worker, Anita Joy, during an attempted robbery.
Anita Joy, who worked alongside Wactor at the Level 8 dining and entertainment complex, shared a heart-wrenching account of the incident on Instagram on May 29.

Encountering three armed thieves trying to steal Wactor’s catalytic converter, they initially mistook the situation for a towing. However, upon realizing the truth, Wactor calmly confronted the thieves, identifying the car as his own. Joy vividly recalled the moment of the fatal shot, with Wactor positioned between her and the assailant, collapsing into her arms despite her desperate efforts to save him.
Calls for Justice: Remembering Johnny Wactor’s Legacy
Expressing her profound grief and anger, Joy called for justice for Wactor, emphasizing that she found solace in being with him during his final moments.
She also urged fans to support Wactor’s family through a GoFundMe page, which has garnered nearly $100,000 in donations.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner confirmed Wactor’s cause of death as a gunshot wound to the chest, ruling it a homicide.
Throughout his career, Wactor appeared in various TV series and films, leaving a lasting impression with roles in “Army Wives,” “NCIS,” and “Westworld.”
Joy fondly remembered Wactor, praising his ability to brighten any room and describing him as one of the best men she ever knew. “I’m so grateful to have been a part of his world,” she wrote.
