Jean Dawson’s artistic range is on full display with his latest work. This year, Dawson has ventured into new territories, from his debut Spanish single “Divino Desmadre” to contributions on A24’s Talking Heads tribute album with “Swamp” and the 1999 WRITE THE FUTURE compilation with “fIT chECK fREEsTYle.” His most recent endeavor is a collaboration with Lil Yachty on the emotive track “Die For Me.”
In “Die For Me,” Dawson delves into deep themes with poignant lyrics: “I bet somebody love me, no / After I’ve died, we’ll see / Don’t show up at my funeral / If you won’t die for me.” The song underscores Dawson’s vocal talents, offering a raw, unfiltered view of his introspective nature.
Dawson reflected on his creative journey, stating: “Knowledge speaks and wisdom listens. I don’t know anything but this feeling I’m chasing, and the closer I get, the further it seems. I don’t want to talk anymore. When I was younger, I was so excited and talkative. Now, I’m just obsessed. I no longer have words except for in the songs I write. I hope you feel something.”
The release of “Die For Me” coincides with the announcement of Dawson’s upcoming album, Glimmer of God, and his North American tour. Dawson is eager to connect with fans, expressing his anticipation: “Can’t wait to see you <33.”
