On Tuesday, July 9th, Rich The Kid shared a screenshot on Instagram of a recent conversation with Kanye West. In the messages, the Chicago rapper revealed his intention to leave the music industry.
Is Kanye West really retiring from music?
“I’m retiring from professional music,” Ye wrote. “Not sure what else to do.”
Rich expressed disbelief, responding, “Retire? Why? The people need you. The music you & Ty & we have made was the biggest stamp in the culture to this date in 2024… Drop Ye about mine & V2 and we do it all over again. The kids need you big bro, maybe some time to chill but retiring ain’t it.”
Rich did not share Ye’s response, if there was one.
Is Kanye West’s new album, Vulture 2, still coming?
Rappers often announce retirements only to return, so Ye’s statement might be met with skepticism. If true, it could mean the highly anticipated Vultures 2 album may not be released.
Vultures 1, Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign’s album, topped charts upon its February release, featuring the hit single “Carnival” with Playboi Carti and Rich The Kid.
However, the promised second and third installments have not materialized. Ty Dolla $ign confirmed all tracks for the second album are finished, but there has been no official release date since it was rumored to drop in May.
Recently, Ye and Ty announced a Vultures listening event set for August 23 in Korea. Will this event mark a new beginning or the end of an era? Stay tuned.
