Netflix has announced an exciting new project, The Woman in Cabin 10, starring Academy Award nominee Keira Knightley. This marks one of the streamer’s first significant moves by Dan Lin, the streamer’s new film chief.
Based on Ruth Ware’s bestselling novel, the film immerses viewers in a gripping maritime mystery. Knightley will play a travel journalist assigned to cover the maiden voyage of a luxury yacht. During her assignment, she witnesses a horrifying incident: a passenger being thrown overboard. Her attempts to uncover the truth are met with disbelief, as all passengers are reportedly accounted for. As the yacht sails through the desolate North Sea, she finds herself in grave danger, desperately seeking answers.
The adaptation will be directed by Simon Stone, known for his work on the 2021 Netflix film The Dig and the 2015 drama The Daughter. Joe Shrapnel and Anna Waterhouse wrote the screenplay for Cabin 10, and Stone also contributed to script revisions.
The production is backed by Sister, the company co-founded by Elizabeth Murdoch and Jane Featherstone. Cindy Holland is the CEO. Debra Hayward will produce, and Ilda Diffley will serve as executive producer.
Keira Knightley, whose recent projects include the Netflix series *Black Doves* and films like *Boston Strangler* and *The Aftermath*, brings a wealth of dramatic experience to the role. Her acclaimed performances in *Pride & Prejudice* and *The Imitation Game* have earned her Oscar nominations, adding to the anticipation for this thrilling adaptation.
