From their humble beginnings in 2003, Kings of Leon have been on an exhilarating journey, marked by chart-topping hits, headline festival performances, and a slew of prestigious awards. Now, with the release of their ninth studio album, ‘Can We Please Have Fun,’ under the Capitol label, the band is poised to further solidify their position in the rock scene, showcasing their evolution and growth over the years.
Fronted by the raw and powerful single ‘Mustang,’ which soared to the top 5 of Billboard’s Adult Alternative Airplay and Alternative Airplay charts, the latest LP from Kings of Leon is a testament to their unwavering dedication to crafting timeless music, free from the constraints of industry trends or algorithms. As band member Jared Followill puts it, their sole aim is to create an album that they can wholeheartedly stand behind, from the very first note to the closing track.
For this project, Kings of Leon enlisted Kid Harpoon’s talents to guide their creative direction, a departure from their previous collaborations with Markus Dravs. The quartet—Caleb (guitar/vocals), Nathan (drums), Jared (bass), and Matthew Followill (guitar)—first gained mainstream recognition with hits like “Use Somebody” and “Sex on Fire” from their 2008 album “Only By the Night,” which earned them multiple Grammy Awards.
Throughout their career, Kings of Leon have amassed an impressive collection of accolades, including three NME Awards, two Brit Awards, and one Juno Award. They’ve headlined significant festivals worldwide and topped the Billboard 200 chart with their 2016 album “Walls.”
To celebrate the release of “Can We Please Have Fun,” Kings of Leon will embark on a world tour this June, starting with a 26-city run across the U.S. and Canada. Produced by Live Nation, the tour promises to bring their electrifying energy to fans around the globe, solidifying their status as one of rock’s most enduring acts.
