Following the release of its full Spring/Summer 2024 “Made in Japan” collection earlier this year, Levi’s introduces another special-edition model: the 1922 501XX jeans. This exclusive offering showcases Levi’s Vintage Clothing’s Shrink-to-Fit plain selvedge denim, meticulously crafted as a “stitch-for-stitch” reproduction of the original 1922 Levi’s 501 jeans. This historic design marked the first year belt loops were added to Levi’s flagship jeans.
Exclusive Denim Edition: Levi’s 1922 501XX
Key features of the 1922 501XX include preserved suspender loops on the front and back buttons, and a center-back cinch for an adjustable fit. The jeans also feature a series of exposed rivets and a single-needle arcuate design on the back pockets, reflecting the authenticity of the archival piece.
Heritage Jeans in Levi’s Collection
This release is part of Levi’s expanding lineup of Made-in-Japan trousers, which now includes various models such as the 1980s 501 jeans, the 505 Regular Fit, the 511, the 512, and the 502. For the current season, the 501 model has been updated with an “Atlas” patch resembling a map of the Earth and additional small stitches along the leg.
