The young British rapper Little Simz has just been awarded the highly prestigious role of guest curator for one of the most eagerly anticipated upcoming Tate Modern Lates events. The event is part of a celebrated series of after-hours programs by the renowned and internationally recognized London Museum. Since its launch in 2016, Tate Lates has firmly rooted its position within the kaleidoscope of London’s cultural heritage as an essential and defining event. Delightfully varied and complete, it combines marvellous panel discussions, live music performances, hands-on workshops, and dynamic art performances. The curators in the previous edition were the collective BBZ London and Canadian artist Megan Rooney. At the same time, DJ sets were created by some of the world’s most famous artists, including Floating Points and Nabihah Iqbal.

Art and Culture at Tate Modern Lates

Jessye Bloomfield, the creative producer of Tate Lates, highlighted the significance of the series, stating, “Since launching in 2016, Tate Modern Lates have become a cornerstone of London’s artistic nightlife. Little Simz is curating an extraordinary line-up that showcases London’s creative talent and the artists and collectives who inspire her.”

Guest Curator Little Simz Takes the Stage

Simz’s curatorial debut is set to deliver an unforgettable experience as she takes the reins at Tate Modern from 6 pm to 10 pm. The evening will commence with three artist-led workshops: writing sessions with Caroline Adeyemi in the Blavatnik Building, bodywork classes conducted by artist Fiona Quadri and movement specialist Ayanna Birch, and a dance workshop led by Simz’s choreographer, Kloé Dean, in the South Tank.

Much anticipated and scheduled for Saturday, August 31, between 6 pm and 10 pm, it promises to be one of the many highlights of the summer season’s cultural calendar.
