Mandy Moore shares her reflections on rewatching her role as Rebecca Pearson in “This Is Us” alongside her husband, Taylor Goldsmith, for her podcast “That Was Us.” The actress and singer, soon to be a mother of three, reveals that revisiting the show has given them new perspectives.
“It’s like I’m going back to 2016 and thinking, ‘Wow.’ Rewatching it now, with the context of our lives back then when Taylor and I were newly dating, through the lens of being parents now, is so different,” she tells PEOPLE while promoting her “Claim Your And” campaign with TJ Maxx.
Moore highlights the enlightening conversations they’ve had since starting the rewatch for the podcast. “The discussions we’ve had in the past weeks and months are really interesting. We didn’t have this life experience back then to even consider having some of these kinds of conversations,” she adds.
“This Is Us,” which aired on NBC from 2016 to 2022, delves into themes of family, love, and loss, focusing on the lives of siblings Kevin (Justin Hartley), Kate (Chrissy Metz), and Randall (Sterling K. Brown), as well as their parents Rebecca (Mandy Moore) and Jack (Milo Ventimiglia). The series skillfully uses multiple timelines to narrate stories from the present, flashbacks to the siblings’ childhood, and flash-forwards to their later years.
