Microsoft is gearing up for a busy week with the announcement of Copilot+ PC, its latest AI-driven personal computers powered by Snapdragon’s X Series chips. Additionally, Microsoft unveiled an update to its Surface line, introducing an all-new Surface Laptop and a Surface Pro tablet, which it claims are the “fastest, most intelligent Windows PCs ever.”
It’s been over a decade since Microsoft debuted the Surface, a versatile “2-in-1” PC that functions as both a laptop and a tablet. The new Surface Pro builds on this legacy with significant upgrades. Boasting 90% more speed than the Surface Pro 9, thanks to the Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Plus processors, it features a bright 13-inch display capable of connecting to three external 4K displays, two super-fast USB 4 ports, and Wi-Fi 7 for rapid connectivity. The device also includes top-notch cameras, with a 10MP Ultra HD camera on the back for 4K video and an ultra-wide, quad-HD selfie camera on the front.
The Surface Laptop, Microsoft’s traditional yet touchscreen-enabled laptop, has been redesigned for a more modern look and feel. It features a 120Hz screen with HDR technology, offering the most vibrant colors seen on a Surface device, along with Dolby Vision IQ and Adaptive Color technology. Available in two sizes, 13.8-inch and 15-inch, the Surface Laptop comes in four finishes: Platinum, Black, Dune, and Sapphire.
Both new devices promise unprecedented speeds for Surface laptops, with Microsoft claiming they outperform Apple’s latest MacBook Air, powered by the M3 processor. Microsoft has also reengineered Windows 11 to optimize performance with Snapdragon’s X Series chips.
The new Microsoft Surface Pro and Surface Laptop can be pre-ordered today directly through Microsoft, starting at £1,049 GBP / $999 USD, and will be available at select retailers starting June 18.
