Luxury powerhouse Montblanc, nearing its 120th anniversary, is renowned for its exquisite fountain pens, watches, and leather goods. Recently, the brand celebrated a century of its iconic Meisterstück fountain pen with a snow-covered extravaganza in Los Angeles, featuring a surprise performance by John Legend. To complement this milestone, Montblanc enlisted the talents of American director Wes Anderson to create a whimsical film.
Titled “100 Years of MEISTERSTÜCK,” the 3-minute short features Anderson himself alongside Jason Schwartzman and Rupert Friend from Astroid City. True to Anderson’s signature style, the film showcases meticulously composed single-frame scenes and subtly humorous dialogue highlighting the history and craftsmanship of Montblanc.
The story unfolds with the cast atop the Mont Blanc mountain in Western Europe, braving the elements before retreating to the Mount Blanc Observatory to unveil the anniversary collection. This collection includes bags, pouches, wallets, and a special-edition fountain pen designed by Wes Anderson, slated for release in 2025.
