Sudanese-Canadian artist Mustafa has unveiled a poignant new single, “Gaza Is Calling,” with proceeds supporting the Palestine Children’s Relief Fund. The song, written in 2020, was inspired by Mustafa’s childhood friendship with a boy from Gaza and the following heartbreak as they faced violence and displacement.
The accompanying video, directed by Hiam Abbas and featuring Bella Hadid and MC Abdul, weaves together stories of grief, guilt, and resilience. Mustafa’s lyrics and the Oud instrument pay tribute to their shared cultural heritage. At the same time, the video juxtaposes the struggles of those in refugee camps with the experiences of those in the Western world.
This release follows Mustafa’s benefit concert earlier this year, which raised aid for Gaza and Sudan. Through “Gaza Is Calling,” Mustafa reminds us that every child, every path, and every war is our collective responsibility.
