The National Recording Registry, maintained by the Library of Congress, has recently added 25 new recordings to its collection. These include iconic albums such as “Ready to Die” by The Notorious B.I.G. and “Dookie” by Green Day. Other notable inductees are “Ain’t No Sunshine” by Bill Withers, “Arrival” by ABBA, and “Parallel Lines” by Blondie.

Among the selections is “Clarinet Marmalade,” which is the oldest recording to be added to the registry, recorded in 1919 by Lt. James Reese Europe’s 369th U.S—Infantry Band.

The inclusion of Gene Autry’s “Rudolph, the Red-Nosed Reindeer” makes it the third Christmas song to be added to the registry, alongside Bing Crosby’s “White Christmas” and Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You.”

The registry has also recognized Latin recordings by Héctor Lavoe (“El Cantante”) and Juan Gabriel (“Amor Eterno”) highlighting its commitment to preserving a diverse range of American cultural heritage.
