Nickelodeon is set to evoke waves of nostalgia with the debut of the trailer for the revamped series, “The Fairly OddParents: A New Wish.” This reimagined rendition of the beloved show is slated to feature 20 episodes and will hit Netflix for international streaming later this year.
In the series’ official description, we learn that it will revolve around Hazel Wells, a ten-year-old who finds herself adjusting to life in the bustling city of Dimmadelphia after her family’s relocation due to her father’s new job. Struggling with the absence of her brother, Antony, who has headed off to college, Hazel feels adrift and uncertain. However, her world is turned upside down when she discovers her next-door neighbors are no ordinary folks – they’re none other than Cosmo and Wanda, Fairy Godparents! With their return from retirement, Hazel’s life is set for a magical transformation as they vow to grant her every wish.
Ashleigh Crystal Hairston will voice Hazel, while Daran Norris and Susanne Blakeslee reprise their iconic roles as Cosmo and Wanda. The series boasts co-executive producers David Stone, Lindsay Katai, Hairston, and Daniel Abramovici, with Fred Seibert and Butch Hartman serving as executive producers under the guidance of Neil Wade. The original series, which aired from 2001 to 2017 across 172 episodes, has left an indelible mark on audiences. Additionally, it spawned three live-action adaptations, including one featuring Drake Bell as Timmy Turner, along with another series released in 2022 on Paramount+.
