Nik Bentel’s ‘Performative Art Objects’ Embrace Everyday Absurdity

image

Nik Bentel is a famous designer, and his latest collection is titled “Performative Art Objects.” This series of artworks is made to celebrate the banality of life. In a reversal of design conventions, there is a series of objects with which people are invited to view these as art, not functionality.

Absurd Design in Performative Art Objects

In Performative Art Objects, this series of oversized pencils and the grotesquely shaped chairs provoke against tradition. Fantastical house fittings take the whole work to show the great respect Bentel has for his art craftsmanship while trying to go above normal design bounds.

Transforming Everyday Objects into Whimsical Creations

Bentel’s work consists of whimsical interpretations that make mundane objects incredible. The ordinary becomes wonderful in the ‘Performative Art Objects’ series when interaction and dialogue are realized in a piece that gives rise to reflection and discussion. When the lines between art and utility blur, Bentel encourages viewers to notice their daily lives, where absurdity and humor reside amongst the everyday objects surrounding the viewer.

Contemporary Art and the Role of the Designer

The collection is also a kind of comment on the nature of design and the designer’s position. The designs proposed by Bentel contradict an assumption that it has to be useful as objects to be useful are supposed to be fun also. In this sense, it portrays a more generalized attitude about contemporary design use of experience and an emotional appeal.

Nik Bentel’s Exploration of Creativity and Absurdity

Nik Bentel’s “Performative Art Objects” do even more than that-they plunge deeper into issues such as creativity and absurdity within the human experience. Nik Bentel’s unpredictable, playful approach opens the subject of the place of design in everyday life.
