Reacting to the ongoing leakage issues surrounding its upcoming sneaker drops, Nike has pre-emptively launched its annual SNKRS Showcase series. This move is geared toward controlling and influencing the dialogue surrounding its product releases. The first showcase came in last October, as the brand dropped a number of in-line releases that thrilled sneakerheads. Because the first show was a hit and well-received, Nike is hosting the sequel this June. Again, this latest showcase was quite exciting due to several highly-awaited drops, including the exciting return of Nike Gato. A favorite among the sneaker collector circles, this has generated much buzz among enthusiasts and collectors alike.
Official Look at the Nike Gato “White Gum” Variant
First launched as a futsal shoe in 2010, the Nike Gato only recently gained new attention through its collaboration with Supreme in 2018 through the SB label. Now back, but this time without SB branding, Gato is exactly the type of soccer-inspired footwear that can be perfectly aligned with a trend.
Available since June, the preview comes in four exciting colourways: sharp white, muted grey, rich maroon, and energetic green. The “White Gum” is a very striking colorway for this model with its clean white textile base and its modern look punctuated by smooth white leather overlays. To finish off the toe, gray suede has been used with softness and texture also added to the shoe alongside contrast in the otherwise monochromatic look.
The design harmonises underneath a Cushlon-backed sole unit, marrying comfort with cushioning and pristine white contrast. A classic gum has a grip; as much as it proves to be durable, it also brings out just the perfect hint of retro style; the kind of thoughtful combining of materials and colours to set Gato apart as an option for style or even for performance.
