At the Paris Olympics this summer, winning athletes will receive their medals on elegant Louis Vuitton trays, adorned with the French luxury house’s signature motifs.
Louis Vuitton’s Medal Trays
Crafted by artisans at the Beaulieu-sur-Layon workshop in the Maine-et-Loire region, the trays feature the Maison’s timeless Damier canvas, created in 1888, on the exterior. The interiors are lined with matte black leather, reminiscent of the Louis Vuitton “Torches and Medals” Trunks. Each tray can hold two to six medals, all designed by jeweler Chaumet.
Antoine Arnault on Louis Vuitton’s Contribution
“We wanted to contribute not just as a creative partner of the Opening Ceremony, but to be present throughout the event including the sporting part, and we found this way to be present that is very discreet and at the same time, paradoxically, very visible,” said Antoine Arnault, LVMH’s head of communication, image, and environment, at a press event at the Bulgari Hotel on Tuesday, via WWD. “I think the trays are beautiful and very Vuitton.”
Louis Vuitton’s Unisex Uniform for Medal Bearers
In addition to the trays, Louis Vuitton has designed a unisex uniform for the medal bearers, consisting of a polo shirt, loose pants, and a gavroche cap, nodding to the style of the 1924 Paris Olympics. “We have designed an elegant, sober, comfortable outfit so that the medal bearers can do their job in the best conditions with hundreds of millions of pairs of eyes around the world focused on them,” Arnault added.
This collaboration adds a touch of luxury and sophistication to the Paris Olympics, blending tradition and modernity in a uniquely Vuitton manner.
