While the first three films were widely praised, the last two underperformed at the box office. Despite this, producer Jerry Bruckheimer remains hopeful for another installment in the franchise.
Rumors of a revival have circulated for the past couple of years, including a potential version featuring Margot Robbie. However, Disney has since scrapped that project. Depp’s relationship with Disney soured during his highly publicized divorce from Amber Heard, which led to a trial in 2022. Despite maintaining a low profile since then, sources close to Depp suggest he might be open to working with Disney again “if it’s the right project.”
In a recent interview with Entertainment Tonight, Bruckheimer expressed his desire to work with Depp again, stating, “If it was up to me, of course. I love having Depp. He’s a great actor and good friend… I’ve certainly spoken to him, but we’ll see what happens.”It remains uncertain if a new Pirates film featuring Depp will come to fruition, but Bruckheimer’s enthusiasm keeps the possibility alive.
