After delivering the noughties-favorite Mostro sneaker in bright green and grey colorways earlier this year, PUMA has reimagined this classic silhouette for the summer with sleek new black and white finishes.
Originally launched in 1999, the Mostro is known for its spiked sole and versatile strap closure. PUMA brought it back during their carnival-inspired runway show at February’s New York Fashion Week to honor its 25th anniversary. “It’s a weird shoe, to be honest,”
The silhouette’s name, derived from the Italian word for “monster,” aptly describes its unique and eye-catching design. The latest release includes two premium versions featuring perforated leather with mixed black-and-white color blocking across the uppers. Both models retain the signature spiked sole and strap closure.
To celebrate the launch, PUMA collaborated with French photographer and art director Nicolas Poillot, known for his documentary image style, to shoot the updated models by the waters of Marseille, France.
PUMA’s summertime Mostros will be available starting Saturday, July 13, at select retailers worldwide and online, priced at £135 GBP. Check out the designs in the gallery above.
