Reynolds, reprising his role as Deadpool, expressed his gratitude to the studio in a recent Fandango interview. “I’m really proud of them for doing this,” he said. “[It’s] a huge step for them…it adds a whole other color to this kaleidoscopic wheel that is that company and the different people that they have been entertaining forever.”
Deadpool’s R-Rating Remains: What Fans Can Expect
When Disney acquired Fox, the home of the original ‘Deadpool’ films, fans worried the character’s dark humor would be toned down. However, Reynolds and director Shawn Levy confirmed that the R-rating would stay. “There’s no other way to do it,” Reynolds explained, adding, “[The R rating] really [allowed] us to do anything and everything in a world where anything and everything is possible.”

Director Shawn Levy also assured fans in an Associated Press interview that they need not know anything about other movies to enjoy the upcoming film. “This movie is built for entertainment, with no obligation to come prepared with prior research,” he said.
