Stepping away from the realm of fashion with ‘A-COLD-WALL’
Samuel Ross has created an installation named “Terminal 02” in a Milanese palace, to celebrate his collaboration with bathroom brand Kohler. The installation features a maze of giant orange pipes against the backdrop of Palazzo del Senato. It’s a Brutalist-inspired installation that contrasts with the baroque surroundings, offering a unique perspective on water’s natural flow and control.
The industrial pipe network is dominated by a vibrant “Haptic Orange” hue, which is Kohler’s 1967 product “Tiger Lily” and also Ross’s signature color. Ross’s designs for Kohler, such as the “Formation 02” toilet and faucet, echo the power of water in nature. The toilet features angular lines resembling carved rock, created using unique molding and tooling techniques. The faucet boasts a sleek cylindrical design.
Ross emphasizes the influence of nature and industrial engineering feats in his creations, highlighting the journey water undertakes. “Terminal 02” was displayed during Milan Design Week and captivated audiences with its fusion of industrial aesthetics and organic inspiration
