Stevie Nicks delivered a performance steeped in her Fleetwood Mac heritage on May 20 at the Frost Bank Center in San Antonio. The evening began with a blend of her solo hits, Fleetwood Mac classics, and personal anecdotes, creating an enchanting experience, as reported by San Antonio Express News.
Nicks reminisced about the song “Gypsy,” describing it as a reflection on the happy yet impoverished days before she and Lindsey Buckingham joined Fleetwood Mac—a band they were barely familiar with at the time. She noted how quickly fortune and fame followed their joining.
To stay grounded amid her success, Nicks shared how she would sometimes sleep on the floor with a coverlet and some flowers to remind herself, “I am still Stevie.” Onstage, she wore various capes and shawls, including the original cape from the back cover of Bella Donna and the one featured in the “Stand Back” music video.
Nicks also shared memories of living in El Paso for five years, where she almost mastered Spanish before her family moved to Salt Lake City, Utah, where Spanish was less commonly spoken.
She recounted how Jimmy Iovine, her producer and boyfriend at the time, brought her a song from another artist he was working with, believing it could be the hit her album Bella Donna needed.
The concert concluded with a powerful performance of “Landslide,” accompanied by a montage of photos of Christine McVie, the beloved Fleetwood Mac member who passed away in 2022. This visual tribute played on a Cinerama-style screen, ending the night with a poignant homage to McVie.
