Sufjan Stevens is releasing a 20th anniversary deluxe edition of Seven Swans on June 21 via Asthmatic Kitty. This edition includes B-sides “I Went Dancing With My Sister” and “Waste of What Your Kids Won’t Have” in the digital album for the first time. The physical versions feature silver and split-colored vinyl, a zoetrope picture disc, and more.
Seven Swans is unique in Stevens’ discography as it was produced by Daniel Smith, leader of Danielson Famile. Smith also contributed vocals, drums, and keyboard.
Stevens’ recent album, Javelin, was dedicated to his late partner, Evans Richardson IV. Stevens has been undergoing treatment for Guillain-Barré syndrome and regularly shares updates on his Tumblr. Additionally, Illinoise, a dance musical based on his 2005 album Illinois, has received several Tony Award nominations, and the original cast recording will be released digitally on May 31 by Nonesuch.
