This August, the renowned Japanese furniture company Tendo Mokko is set to unveil a special exhibition titled SHAPE OF TENDO at the Isetan Shinjuku department store in Tokyo. This time-limited exhibition will showcase a series of new furniture pieces, each infused with the unique vision of its collaborators.
The list of collaborators includes Hirofumi Kiyonaga, former creative director of SOPH.; Ichiro Yamaguchi, frontman of the new-wave indie rock band Sakanaction; Kashiyuka, a member of the techno-pop girl group Perfume; and Junko Katoh, a dentist and model.
Drawing from Kiyonaga’s passion for gold, the Putter Rack is a chic and compact stand made from molded plywood. It features Tendo Mokko’s signature curves and green cushioning, providing the perfect angle for storing putters.
As a furniture enthusiast, Yamaguchi has designed a duo of stools called YI Stool. Available in white canvas and black leather versions, these stools are crafted from solid teak wood and evoke a mid-century modern appeal.
Kashiyuka’s Rattan Side Table is designed as the perfect piece for her cat to lounge on. The cylindrical table, partially enclosed with woven rattan walls, boasts an open design that allows light to shine through.
Junko Katoh has envisioned a fluffy Seat Chair that encapsulates her minimalist yet cozy aesthetics. Offered in three varying heights, the chair features a frame made of ebony wood and is upholstered in white bouclé fabric.
Starting July 24, these pieces will be available for pre-sale through the Isetan Mitsukoshi website. The general sale will take place from August 8 to 18, and from August 7 to 13, the SHAPE OF TENDO exhibition will be on display on the first floor of Isetan Shinjuku.
