Ed Ruscha, often hailed as the king of the LA art scene, is currently being celebrated with one of his most extensive retrospectives at the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA). To complement this significant exhibition, The Hole is hosting a group show that pays homage to Ruscha’s profound influence on generations of artists in Los Angeles and globally.
Experience the unique HOLLYWOOD DREAM BUBBLE: Ed Ruscha’s Influence in Los Angeles and Beyond exhibition, a diverse collection of artworks including paintings, sculptures, works on paper, and silkscreened t-shirts. Curated by Jessica Gallucci and artist Dani Tull, this show delves into various stylistic periods of Ruscha’s career, offering a fresh perspective on his influence.
The exhibition showcases works from figures like Kenny Scharf, Catherine Opie, Mike Kelley, and Raymond Pettibon, alongside emerging talents such as Jeremy Shockley, Jaime Muñoz, and Eddie Ruscha, Ed Ruscha’s son. To assemble this extensive collection, The Hole collaborated with numerous galleries, including François Ghebaly, OCHI, BLUM, White Cube, Ruscha’s Hamilton Press, the Mike Kelley Foundation for the Arts, Stars Gallery, and Hauser & Wirth.
Curators Gallucci and Tull explain, “With more than seventy artists, this is not a ‘tightly curated’ exhibition: neither could it possibly be a comprehensive one. HOLLYWOOD DREAM BUBBLE is just a piece of the discourse around the great artist’s reach and a celebration of his impact among American artists across generations.”
Located just two and a half miles from Ruscha’s LACMA retrospective, this unique exhibition runs for a limited time only, until June 15, 2024. Don’t miss your chance to explore the lasting legacy of Ed Ruscha in the world of contemporary art.
