A powerful collective of British stars, including Keira Knightley, Cara Delevingne, and Carey Mulligan, have joined forces to demand stricter measures against bullying and sexual harassment in the entertainment industry. Alongside 25 industry professionals, they’re calling for support of the Creative Industry Independent Standards Authority (CIISA), a new watchdog set to investigate complaints across music, film, TV, and theater.
In an open letter, the signatories emphasize the urgent need for an objective outside body to provide advice, mediation, and accountability for bad behavior and practices. Time’s Up UK has championed this initiative since 2021, with backing from media secretary Lucy Frazer. While some broadcasters have contributed, additional support from major industry bodies is crucial for CIISA’s launch by year-end.
Actress Ruth Wilson praises the watchdog as “invaluable,” sharing her personal desire for such a resource throughout her 20-year career. BBC chief Tim Davie echoes the sentiment, stating that CIISA will be “a force for good” in creating a safe and supportive industry for all. Let’s unite against bullying and harassment, ensuring a brighter future for the UK entertainment industry.
