The RICO trial involving Young Thug and his YSL colleagues has been temporarily halted while a separate judge reviews a motion to remove Chief Judge Ural Glanville from the case.
Young Thug’s Motion for Judge Recusal in RICO Trial
According to AP reports, Young Thug and the other defendants filed a motion for Judge Glanville’s recusal after he met with prosecutors and prosecution witness Kenneth Copeland without any defense representatives present. The defense called the meeting “improper” and accused Judge Glanville and the prosecution of attempting to pressure the witness, who had been granted immunity, into testifying. Judge Glanville stated that another judge would review the motion but did not provide a timeline for the decision.

Judge Glanville also addressed the meeting, explaining that the prosecution had requested it to discuss Copeland’s immunity deal. He assured that a transcript of the meeting would be released.
This trial is Georgia’s longest criminal trial in history, with jury selection starting in January 2023 and opening statements not beginning until November.
