Beach club and resort Desi Potato Head in Bali has unveiled its latest dining venture, a retro-futuristic restaurant called Dome. Dome offers diners a unique experience with natural food and wine served in a futuristic yet earthy setting, blending reclaimed furniture with modern design elements.
Futuristic Exterior of Dome at Desi Potato Head in Bali
The exterior of Dome sets the futuristic tone with its dome shape, inspired by the iconic Fuller Dome Home. Concrete walls give it a raw, geodesic dome-like appearance, complemented by modern touches such as the sleek silver Dome sign.
Central Bar and Modern Aesthetics at Dome
Upon entering, diners are greeted by a steel circular central bar, which serves as the focal point of the restaurant. Blue pillars with integrated light fixtures match the blue floor, cleverly disguising essential elements. The aesthetic is further enhanced by stainless steel monoliths housing JBL 4355 speakers, providing an atmospheric soundtrack with vinyl DJ sets.
Warm Interior Design with Reclaimed Wood and Furniture
Throughout the interior, reclaimed wood and furniture create a warm, inviting atmosphere. Custom-designed sofas and lounge chairs by Potato Head’s in-house design studio, along with decors like Indonesian tribal sculptures and antique rugs, add a unique touch and balance the concrete and steel architecture.
Creative Director’s Vision for Dome’s Design
“The architecture is so futuristic, so we wanted to break it down with natural elements,” said creative director Isaac Larose. “If you look closely, you can see the imperfections in the shades of the reclaimed furniture. We decided to celebrate these imperfections rather than hide them, just like we do with our wines and produce.”
