Julia Fox’s Celibacy Journey: Unveiling Personal Convictions and Surprising Perks

Actress and model Julia Fox recently made headlines with her bold decision to embrace celibacy. During an appearance on “Watch What Happens Live” on May 19, Fox revealed that her choice is a personal protest against the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

“Nothing good comes from having sex — including children,” joked the 34-year-old, before clarifying, “No, I’m just kidding.” She went on to explain that with the overturning of Roe v. Wade and women’s rights being stripped away, choosing celibacy is a way for her to reclaim control. “It sucks that it has to be this way, but I just don’t feel comfortable until things change.”

Fox, who shares a 3-year-old son named Valentino with ex-husband Peter Artemiev, shared that her celibacy journey has been ongoing. “It was six months, then a year, and now it’s almost two-and-a-half years,” she said.

When host Andy Cohen asked if she misses sex, Fox gave a firm “no.” She likened it to overcoming other habits like smoking or drugs. “Eventually, you just forget, and all that energy can go toward other things,” she explained. When Cohen asked if she masturbates frequently, Fox responded, “Not as much as you would think. Maybe once or twice a month. Sometimes I’ll start and then get tired and lose interest. I’m just so tired all the time.”

Fox first mentioned her celibacy on May 11 in a comment on a TikTok video that criticized Bumble’s new ad campaign. She wrote, “2.5 years of celibacy and never been better tbh.”

Reflecting on her brief relationship with Kanye West in early 2022, Fox described the experience on “The Drew Barrymore Show” last October, comparing it to having a second baby. “He needed a full-time person, and I just couldn’t be that,” she said. “I had my son [Valentino], and he wanted to talk on the phone a lot. It was so overwhelming and unsustainable.”

Fox concluded that her primary focus needs to be on her son. “I cannot put anybody else first. My son has to be first. It felt like I had two babies, and I couldn’t do it.”

Julia Fox’s journey of celibacy is not just a personal choice but a powerful statement of reclaiming autonomy in a world where women’s rights are under threat. Through this journey, she’s found new strength and a fresh perspective on life.
