Sagan Lockhart to Release Debut Photo Book ‘I Don’t Play’

Sagan Lockhart has spent years capturing the formative moments of many of today’s biggest hip-hop stars. Based in Los Angeles, Lockhart photographed artists like Playboi Carti and Mac Miller well before they achieved mainstream fame. 

Lockhart’s talent and keen eye for emerging talent eventually led to him becoming the unofficial photographer for the influential collective, Odd Future. In an interview with Hypebeast earlier this year, Lockhart emphasized the importance of building mutual relationships with the artists he photographed. “What I was really looking for were these up-and-coming artists that I could see had some sort of potential. You know, this guy’s going to be the shit,” he explained. 

Now, over a decade into his career, Lockhart is set to release his debut photo book, ‘I Don’t Play’. Designed and published by ism, the 220-page book showcases a wealth of material from the early 2010s, with a particular focus on his work with Odd Future. 

Sagan Lockhart’s ‘I Don’t Play’ is available for pre-order online for $75 USD. This highly anticipated book offers a rare glimpse into the early days of hip-hop’s rising stars through the lens of a photographer who was there from the beginning.
